Code of conduct in the holy land

We believe that the Code of Conduct for Tourism in the Holy Land is a unique document as it shows ways for change from the outside and from the inside.

jerusalem inter-church center

The Jerusalem Interchurch Centre (JIC) is an ecumenical institution which consists of three members: the World Council of Churches (WCC), the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) and the local churches in Jerusalem. It coordinates ecumenical action in and for Jerusalem and its churches. JIC offers information, analysis and reports to the ecumenical community, and works to strengthen local churches' capacity for diaconal work as well as local ecumenical and inter-faith relations.

For our initiative PIFT, the Jerusalem Interchurch Center takes up a very important role by providing a link to both local churches and the wider ecumenical movement. One of our top priorities is to reach out to pilgrims and church-related groups in various countries, to introduce to them new ways of travelling to and in the Holy Land. To have JIC among our founding members is therefore a great opportunity for PIRT and will help us to reach out to churches all over the world
